Engage Us

The Brotherhood of Jomsborg is the greatest viking age organisation in the world today. We have been hired by such bodies as the National Trust, English Heritage within the UK and further a field invited by various museums and other historical bodies to recreate viking age life in an educational and entertaining way. We performed for the Archbishops of Norway when they celebrated 1000 of Christianity, we were given the Seal to the City of Wolin (Poland), entrusted as its guardians and in Greenland we performed for the Queen of Denmark and were her viking honour guard. A list of the major events we have been involved with can be seen on the Past Events page, but these are only the major events. Not listed are the many events we do for schools or museums, the local fete and the smaller festivals. Below are some of the things we have to offer, the list is by no means exhaustive and if you do not see something that you require it only takes an email to ask us.

HOLMGANGR

Whether in a Holmgangr (Viking Duel) or a Circle of Treachery the Jomsvikings offer some of the most dynamic and colourful duels of the Viking age.

Watch as the Jomsvikings demonstrate their skills with axe, spear or sword!

VIKING FORTRESS

The fortress of Jomsborg and home of the Jomsvikings. Set in 94 acres of forest, with a freshwater lake large enough to handle a fleet of long ships, the fortress of Jomsborg is currently still under construction. Using traditional techniques as the Vikings did, this fortress is commanded by Jarl Einar and provides safe haven to all elements of the Brotherhood of Jomsborg

WARRIOR TRAINING

All our members are trained in the Jomsviking System, pioneered by our Jarl Ulf-Eirik (Phil Burthem) and his close ally Thorgeir (Mike Heywood), the Jomsviking System is more than just a fighting system, it is a western martial art that has evolved over the years. You can choose to learn this technique and be trained by one of our highly qualified Training Officers or perhaps you wish to become a Training Officer yourself. The standards are high and the tests are rigorous; not everyone who attempts to become a Training Officer succeeds, will you?

LIVING HISTORY

With extensive links to many Viking age communities around the world the Jomsvikings also pursue Viking age hand crafts, woodworking, metalworking, dyeing, silversmithing, weaving, stone carving, bone working, these are just some of the crafts we explore. Research is constantly being carried out with reference to archaeological, visual and contemporary sources.

Members of our household also put into practice what they have learned so quite often our research is practical rather than just theory

Feeling hungry? The Viking Inn is a transportable inn serving authentic Viking dishes (the whole roast pork always sells out) to public and Vikings alike. With friendly staff and a great atmosphere the Viking Inn is a great place for Vikings to congregate after a hard day's slaughter and enjoy a cool drink or a hot meal and sit and talk with each other or the members of the public

SLAVE AUCTIONS

Gather ye! Gather ye! The Slave master is in town! With scripted slave auctions, our talented Slave master (Al Qanun) can entertain the public as they watch him sell his latest 'stock' to Viking warriors. Or perhaps you would like to have your very own Viking for a day? With Vikings being sold to the public for the day, you could own your very own Viking to do your will. Need a baby-sitter? Someone to carry the shopping we have Vikings to fit the bill and if you are looking for something else?

The UK's #1 Whip master (Malik bin Yaqub) is available to give you a demonstration of his skills. Whether you would like vegetables sliced or a demonstration of his speed and dexterity, the whip master can do it all. For night events he can put on a display using his stunning fire whip!

RUNE STONES

A hand carved Rune stone is a timeless and beautiful work of art. Resisting the ravages of time for over 1000 years the granite rock that is commonly used for these monuments will be lovingly carved by a master Runologist. The Rune carver will create an original design in co-operation with you in an authentic viking artwork style. This will then be painted using paints made from recipes over 1000 years old.

These monuments will withstand the test of time and look great as a centre piece whether in a viking village or a corporate lobby, the names of those who raised the stone honoured and become a part of history
